Biblio-Ludoteca Infantil Comunitaria de Livingston “Belüba Lüba Fürendei”
In Livingstone the children attend school for 4 hours a day. The rest of the day they find themselves playing in the streets. There has never been an after school activities center.
The idea started with a Chilean who arrived in 2004 to Livingstone and saw there was no public nor private library in Livingstone. He traveled on only to return after some years to start planning the library together with the local community. On 14th of September 2008 they signed the statutes for the organization “Asociación de Amigos para el Desarrollo de Livingston “Marcos Sánchez Díaz” ”
What is a Ludoteca?
A Ludoteca is typically a play center for children staffed by play leaders and organizing a huge range of play, read and leisure activities to stimulate the child’s imaginary and creative senses. The Ludoteca in Livingstone is combined with a library and therefore is called “Biblio-Ludoteca”.
BiblioLudoteca “Belüba Lüba Fürendei” attends 20 children in the morning. The after school program has 100 up to 150 children in the afternoons.
They need volunteers to teach the children and drama students.
Speaking Spanish will be of great help.
